Golf in Los Cabos: 5 courses worth packing your clubs for
Oceanfront holes, desert arroyos and Nicklaus designs, plus tips for getting your bags there.
Los Cabos is one of the top golf destinations in Latin America, with courses by Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Tiger Woods and more, set between the desert and the sea. Here are five you can plan a trip around.
In Los Cabos, the desert meets the sea, and the golf courses sit right in between.
The 5 at a glance
- Cabo del Sol Ocean Course: oceanfront holes by Jack Nicklaus
- Quivira: cliffs above the Pacific
- Cabo Real: the classic in the middle of the corridor
- Puerto Los Cabos: Nicklaus and Norman on the San José side
- Palmilla: 27 Nicklaus holes near San José
1. Cabo del Sol Ocean Course
Designed by Jack Nicklaus, the Ocean Course plays right along the Sea of Cortez, with several holes on the water. It regularly shows up on lists of the best courses in the world, so book your tee time early.
2. Quivira Golf Club
Another Jack Nicklaus design, Quivira opened in 2014 on the cliffs and dunes of the Pacific side, just outside Cabo San Lucas. Access is mainly for guests of the Pueblo Bonito resorts, so check before you plan your round.
3. Cabo Real
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and renovated in 2014, Cabo Real sits in the middle of the Tourist Corridor, which makes it one of the easiest courses to reach from almost any hotel. Expect desert holes with views of the Sea of Cortez.
4. Puerto Los Cabos
On the San José del Cabo side, Puerto Los Cabos combines nines designed by Jack Nicklaus and Greg Norman. It is a great choice if you are staying in San José or near the airport.
5. Palmilla Golf Club
A Jack Nicklaus design near San José del Cabo, Palmilla has 27 holes that wind through desert arroyos with views of the Sea of Cortez.
